My good friend Erik and I do alot of horse trading. He’s a harley freak himself, and a while ago he hooked me up with a boot for my bike. I think its a boot. It could be a dock. Hell, I have no freaking idea what it is. I’m not even sure if the street glide likes it, or If I like it. I do know it makes it nice to work on the bike for some things.
I’ve had this thing all winter, but every time I tried to use it, I just pushed it across the garage so I hammer drilled it into my garage floor and lag bolted it in right.
I need to do a long ride. I’m posting pictures of my bike in that boot thing. Dammit, I need to ride. Someone tell me a good story.
Last summer while my wife was visiting her family in Malaysia, I was cruising 66 on my Sportster. I cruised west to Clinton and Elk City to see the museums. Another weekend I cruised east until it entered Missouri. That time I was caught in some rain. It was still fun, though. In Miami, OK I saw a motorcycle museum that has a Husky dirt bike that was owned and raced by Steve McQueen.
I had a ball that summer, right up until I rear-ended a truck on my Sporty. Thank God I got up and walked away, though hurting in places I didn’t know I had. My Sporty, though, was in the shop for a couple of months getting repaired.
That’s the best story I can tell about my bike.
That’s a nifty front-wheel grab, Zip – and like your workshop! I have a few too many bike stories really, but when I owned a dealership I had a particularly horrible SWM trials bike to shift. A punter asked ride it so I started to wheel it outside. I caught the gearshift on my shin and, sod’s law, as it clunked into gear, it fired up – the bike then dragged me along, and as I fell I opened the throttle! It hit the front door where it stopped, rear wheel fishtailing, and spitting carpet tiles back down the showroom at the unfortunate customers. Moral: no carpet tiles in a showroom, and never, NEVER trust an Italian trials bike!
