I was raised by wolves. Very kind, very nurturing wolves. I love riding to a town a just barely learned the name of on a Friday, making a decision at the intersection to get myself lost 1000 miles away from home on a Saturday, and trying to figure out how the hell I can get home on a Sunday. Just ride a place and see a thing.

2 more days

It’s 85 degrees out there, and in 2 days I *finally* get to have a couple days to just find whatever road I want and go see a thing.   I’m fucking pumped.   I can hardly keep a thought in my head.    It’s why I moved to Arizona.    There’s been a loose plan:  Scout the southern part of the state before spring, the northern part in the summer, and whatever else in the fall.

Pack a tent and sleep where I will.   Pick a spot on the map and ride toward it, and just. enjoy. the. ride.   Twist a throttle and turn up the music.   Find something along the way and explore it…  The rest I’ll just figure out.   God, I can’t fucking wait.

I’m figuring toward Bisbee and Tombstone.

Tomorrow, we ride

Nothing big or Major, just more scouting the perimeter.    The last couple of weeks we’ve been seeing what’s around us and taking some day road trips, and tomorrow we’ll do it on the bike again.

Phoenix is the 6th biggest city in the US.   I’m always interested in what makes something tick, and in this case I’m curious about what makes a landlocked area out in the middle of bum fuck egypt has so many people living here.    The missus and I are going up to see Theodore Roosevelt dam, built over 100 years ago and is a large reason so many people live in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona.

I’m a geek, and I dig that shit.

Tomorrow, we ride.

OCC is coming back

Its funny watching biker trends.   It’s like any other mainstream culture.   Right now, its rat rod bikes — pans, knuckles and shovels as cheap as you can;  retro bikes 60’s and 70’s style.  I see em’ on the the freeway with a gas can strapped in with a bungee cord because they’re riding with a 2 gallon peanut gas tank…   Baggers and choppers are out, rat rods are in.

In 2003, this was the thing:  custom choppers and these guys were in the right place at the right time.    I watched the show, and even bought the entire DVD set.

OCC is trying to make a come back:   It’s kind of cool.

Thanks to my friend Pete for keeping me informed:  I hope they nail it — we could use more bike culture on TV.
