Its getting colder

One of the things about this house that I like, is the fireplace.    I’m appreciating it more and more.    It’s starting to get cold.

I don’t know what it is:    When the thermometer hits the 40’s and 50’s up here, I start to quit riding my bike.   I don’t know why.    It’s like a pre-emptive break up.      Its sorta dumb.    I should be riding it before the snow falls.    Seems I gear up for winter.

Yeah, Winter.   I hate this part about where I live.    At some point, I need to find my way back to the desert.    That time still isn’t now.    There are some things to do.

Put me on a Highway. Show me a sign.

Its nice outside.   I think they call it Indian Summer.     Nice enough to ride, so I did.

Met a family in a neighboring chapter.     Kids were scared to go outside, for reasons that seemed pretty clear to me.   I remember a couple of things:   A)  the ride there.   wide open spaces and a breath of fresh air.    felt like it put a few  years on my life.   B)  The before-and-after look on that one kids face when we took him for a ride.  10 minutes.

So put me on a highway, and show me a sign.    And take it to the limit one more time.

Why we ride

“Some people have it inside, its a seed. And, if you ever put the water on it and feel the sensation and the seed is sprouted and it doesn’t die till the day you take you take your last breath.”

Bikers are born, not made.
