Transition

I’m seeing pictures of my oldest daughter in Connecticut, and I’m proud of her.    She’s 18, and taking on her world.     Its pretty weird for me, but its exactly as it should be.

I am not a religious guy, but you can find good in everything.   Joseph Smith said (and I’m digging deep here) “teach them correct principles, and let them govern themselves”.      I think theres a lot of truth to that.

She’s having the time of her life, just how it should be.   She needs to test herself, find out who she is, and stand on her own two legs.    She’ll do that.

Wierd as hell tho, for me.   This is new ground.   I’ve never been here before.

I got good kids.

There is no other place I wanna be

Ran down to work this morning to get some stuff done that’s been driving me nuts for a while.     Bad wiring drives me nuts.     I cleaned it all up.   Feels better 🙂

This song hit the radio on the way back.     This has been on my road song playlist for a long time, but its always better when a song you like hits the radio.     Feels like you’re enjoying it with everyone in town.   At least if feels that way.

A blast from the past

The Wild Wild West

When I was a kid, this was my favorite TV show.   I had the Wild Wild West Lunchbox, and was proud to have it.    Jim West and Artemus Gordon were the shit.    I still wish I had that lunchbox, It might be worth something now. It even had the Wild Wild West Thermos.

Bonanza

I remember going to the Ponderosa Ranch in Lake Tahoe as a kid.   I’ve got pictures of it somewhere.    I was always partial to Hoss.   He was everybody’s friend.    I think that theme park is long gone.

The Six Million Dollar Man

Chock full-0-cheese, but as an 8 year old kid, you had to watch.   At school, we all pretended to be  this guy.   I can still hear that sound he makes when Steve Austin did something bionic.    No matter how cool you think you may be, you never put the wood to Farrah Fawcett.   Just remember that.

The Twilight Zone

Most of these were before my time, but re-runs were different then they are now.      This is still a favorite.     Rod Serling is a stud.    He served in WWII, was a bit of a  free thinker, and the Twilight Zone was his baby.   It shows.   I’m a fan. I still watch these.

Hogans Heroes

My big brother turned me onto this one.       Check out Richard Dawson, before he was kissing old ladies and shouting “Survey SAID!”. Classic.

Star Trek

I admit it, Me and Missus Zip are Trekkies.     Even been to a convention.    Gene Roddenberry was the man.

Ahhhh, they don’t make em like they used to 🙂

Nine Eleven – I will never forget

I was in  Jr High when Reagan was shot.   I was pretty young, but I remember exactly where I was and what was happening.  I had just gotten on the bus to go home, when the bus driver what had happened.    I remember some of my friends reactions.    Tragedy, will tell you a lot about a persons character, As I’ve looked back on that day.

I was at work when the first plane hit the building.    Word spread fast, and we were all on the internet trying to get news.    No One knew what had happened.  Then the second plane hit, and it was pretty clear to me, pretty fast.   We were under attack.     I’d just sold my business, had 2 young kids and a wife of 10 years now, things were starting to get good for me.   I knew the world had just changed.   To be honest, I was worried about what was going to happen.    We spent the rest of the day glued to the TV.    You couldn’t do business that day anyway.    No One was buying, and no one was selling.    The whole country wondered what lied ahead.

Weird that it was 12 years ago.    A lot has happened since then.

This 2 Million Bikers to DC thing has been pretty moving to me.       I’m trying to figure out why.

I’ve been to lots of biker rallies, and ridden with 500 bikers down the freeway in tight formation, taking over the road for a mile.   It wasn’t that.

I’ve been to DC before.   I lived there for a couple of years.    It wasn’t that.

It was the fact that it came together, and people bought in.   Bikers.   The people I trust, and identify with the most I think.    Americans.   Proud.   Guys that don’t fuck around.    All riding to make a statement, on pretty short notice.     Thousands of em.

I wish I coulda been there.   I like the message.    I’m not really a “muslim” guy, and the timing of their march in that place pissed me off quite frankly.    Word is, there were more cops than Muslims.

To me, it says there’s still a whole lotta good in America.    People that believe like I do.   I shouldn’t be surprised that its the same type of people I call friends on a daily basis.
